The Cathedral of Málaga (0.3 km) – The cathedral is the city’s architectural jewel. Built in the Greco-Roman style on the site of an ancient Moorish mosque, the cathedral was begun in 1528 and completed in 1719.

Museo Picasso Málaga (0.5 km) - The museum was established in response to Pablo Picasso’s own desire for his work to be seen in the city of his birth. Picasso was born in Málaga on 25 October 1881 and his styles and techniques would go on to change the course of modern art.

Alcazaba (fortress) (0.6 km) – Although its architecture is completely different, the fortress is comparable in importance with that of Almeria. Like the castle of Gibralfaro, the Alcazaba of Malaga has one double row of walls. The fortress was mostly constructed in the 11th century and it was the fortified palace of the city’s Muslim governors.

Castle of Gibralfaro (2 km) – The Castle is situated above the Alcazaba and is connected by a path at the eastern end of the Alcazaba. It was built in the 14th and 15th centuries by the Muslim King Yusuf, on the site of a Phoenician lighthouse known as Yabal-Faruk
