The
Cortijo La Reina Hotel is part of a 150,000 m2 land,
located near the Montes de Malaga Natural Park, 20 minutes
away from the city and 30 minutes away from the airport. Its
remarkable situation, 800 m. high, makes possible to enjoy
beautiful views to the sea and the valley.
Close
to the hotel are Colmenar, Archidona, Casabermeja and other
villages in the region of the Montes de Malaga and La Axarquia.
Likewise, El Candado, Guadalhorce, Parador de Torremolinos
and Añoreta - some of the many golf courses in Malaga- are
very near.
The
land has several pathways to walk around and enjoy nature.
Besides olives, pines, almond trees and holm oaks, there is
a wide variety of fruit trees: orange , grapefruit and kiwi
trees, avocados and so on, up to a total of 27 species. Likewise,
there is a wide variety of bird species that live in the land:
sparrows, chaffinches, woodpeckers, goldfinches, eagles and
sparrow hawks, among others.

Montes de Málaga
The Montes de
Malaga Natural Park belongs, in part, to the Axarquia territory
and, in part, to the Montes de Malaga region. It occupies an
area of 411.72 Km2 with olives, almond trees, pines, old holm
oaks and other vegetable species. Among its vast fauna the “cabra
malagueña” (a kind of goat) is one of its most important autochthonous
breed.
We
can find a natural rich area as well as a heritage whose origin
goes back to prehistory. Examples of archaeological interest
are the Cueva de los Chivos and La Pulsera, both in the Colmenar
area. The track of the Arabic culture and the medieval period
is present at the town planning and monuments in the region;
some of them considered as historic and artistic ones (like
the Algibe de Comares).
Another
relevant aspect of the culture in the region is folklore. The
“Verdiales”-deep-rooted popular folk songs from Malaga-are the
best example.
