Aegina Island
The island of Aegina, in the middle of the Saronic Gulf (17 nautical miles south-west of Piraeus), has been at the crossroads of cultures and rival actions for many thousands of years - from the mythical Aiakeans to the Second World War. Despite its small area (83 square km), it offers great variety and has no reason to feel jealous of other "cosmopolitan" islands. The island is easily accessible by either ferry or hydrofoil. Timetables are displayed on the various ticket offices on the quay.

To Aegina Town:
There are several ferries to Aegina from Piraeus port like the “Hellenic Seaways”, “Nova” and “Aghios Nektarios” ferry boats. There are also hydrofoils like “Hellenic Seaways” and “Vassilopoulos” and a fast catamaran service. They are generally operated from 6:00 until approximately 20:30. If you are flying overnight and are arriving in the very early morning at Athens, you can find shops, bars and restaurants open 24 hours in the airport where you can obtain refreshments before leaving for Piraeus port and Aegina.
